NBA Basketball Betting: Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers

Yeah, I know. It only *seems* like I’ve been covering the NBA Finals for the past six weeks now. The Golden State Warriors get one more chance to eliminate the Cleveland Cavaliers or they’ll face a Game 7 situation on their home court. Cleveland was in their ‘exert effort’ mode in Game Five after they phoned in their performance in a double digit Game Four loss.

It’s deja vu all over again. After Game Three the mainstream sports media was soiling themselves with excitement as they chortled that ‘the Cavs are back’ and ‘it’s a new series’. Then Golden State went out and dropped a double digit beating on a disinterested Cleveland team. That got the attention of the Cavs once again and they played a strong game in Game Five. So based on the information above what do you think happens here?

If you said ‘a flat effort from a self satisfied Cleveland team’ you get a star. There’s much more to suggest that eventuality than just this series. For the season Cleveland is 18-24 against the spread after a win of 10 or more but more problematically 29-13 straight up. That’s 13 outright losses after what in theory was a strong effort. The Warriors, meanwhile, have been beastly in this situation. Revenging a home loss against an opponent they are 2-0 SU/ATS. Lest we forget, they only lost twice at home all season and don’t think they’re not proud of that mark. In all revenge situations they’re 14-1 SU/12-3 ATS. Off an upset loss as a favorite they’re 12-1 SU/9-3 ATS. After a loss by 10+ they’re 8-1 SU/6-3 ATS this year and **25-6 SU/21-9 ATS** during the last three years.

There are two reasons that the Golden State Warriors are so good. Of course they have a ton of talent and Steph Curry is a monster. But just as significant is the way they approach the game. In a league notorious for players and teams that ‘take nights off’ and only exert 100% effort on ‘special occasions’ they bring it every night. That’s how you can go through a regular season with a single digit loss total and how the Warriors will win another NBA title here.
